The wild boar is the main reason Sabinal, Texas, may now be right-fully proclaimed the "Wild Boar Capitol of the World". Sabinal is also home to the World Championship Wild Hog Catching Contest where participants catch hogs by hand. If you've not witnessed this event, you have to come to Sabinal to see it. It happens every year around Spring. Not only do we believe that this area of the state has the most boar, we also believe that there are more trophy boar hear than anywhere in Texas. In 30 years of hunting them, in all parts of Texas, we have come to believe this is also the "Trophy Wild Boar Capitol", and our hunter results certainly bear this out. Known as the "Poor Man's Grizzly Bear", the wild boar is one of the toughest, smartest, most tenacious and certainly the most aggressive critters in all the great outdoors.

A hog's sense of smell and hearing are more acute than those of a whitetail deer. It's no surprise that the boar is now ranked as the second most sought after trophy in Texas. Sows and young boar roam in herds, while trophy boar prefer smaller bands or live as loners. A trophy boar will have tusks that will measure from 2 to 4 inches. Hunting from a tree stand is very effective but still challenging since hogs will look up. Most of our meat hog kills run in the 125 to 175 pound range with trophy hogs running 200 to 300+ pounds. Hogs can be hunted all year long so book your hog hunt today and experience the challenge of a lifetime.
